How to prepare your skin for the arrival of summer
The most important thing to remember is that UV rays are harmful. Yes, even though I own a tanning salon, I would be lying if I told you otherwise. Fortunately, there are procedures to follow to help us get a beautiful tan that lasts over time, without burning.
Since summer is just around the corner, I won't talk about tanning in a booth, but about tanning outdoors. Understand that the instructions are almost identical, with a few exceptions.
What is important to understand is that it is essential not to get burns. Although the skin has a good habit of regenerating quickly, this ability slows down with age. In addition, it is interesting to know that each time we "get" a sunburn, the skin cells are damaged and regenerate less than 70%, creating accelerated and premature aging of the skin, pigment spots and dehydration.
To protect it, we must therefore bring out melanin, which is the pigment responsible for the coloring of the skin (the color of the skin, your eyes, your hair, etc.).
* Melanin plays a protective role against skin damage caused by UV rays during sun exposure, as it protects against ultraviolet rays.
What you need to remember is that it is not the tan that is harmful and to be avoided, but rather the sunburn.
Melanin, once it is secreted, will give a beautiful, healthy tan to your skin. It is this coloring that will act as a natural "protection" for your skin to prevent burns. Warning! If you expose yourself to the sun for more than 15 minutes, you ABSOLUTELY must wear sunscreen, because melanin will not protect you beyond this time. It's like the little layer of hard chocolate on M&Ms: it protects the inside, but it still melts after a while in the heat.
When you start exposing yourself to the sun before the big heat to ensure you have a light natural protection by secreting your melanin, you should not expose yourself for a long time. 5 to 10 minutes without sun protection but with a product that contains a light sun filter can be enough.
Fêtapropre is excellent for acting as a sunscreen for 5 to 10 minutes since it contains jojoba oil and apricot oil which are two sunscreen agents in addition to being HYPER hydrating.
Another secret to tanning is obviously hydration. Labrador tea is an essential ingredient during the summer, because it will deeply rehydrate the thirstiest skin. Imagine if, in addition, we added hyaluronic acid, which is a perfect product for perfect hydration! Well, Rido contains all that, in addition to Quebec rose water which will ensure to refresh the skin in addition to hydrating it.
In the case of longer exposure to the sun, you should apply a cream that contains sun barriers to prevent the development of burns, pigment spots and even dehydration. Sunhumeur, in this case, is a product of choice thanks to its zinc content. The cocoa powder it contains will fight external impurities in addition to giving you a perfect complexion and, finally, the shea butter will take care of preserving perfect hydration of your skin.

SO, LET’S RECAP!
For preparation and not tanning:
- Apply oil with a filter 15 to 20 minutes before sun exposure.
- We expose ourselves lightly to the sun for 5 to 10 minutes every day.
- Deeply moisturize the skin after sun exposure . Products should include ingredients that will DEEPLY moisturize the skin to ensure it does not become dehydrated.
- We drink a lot of water.
After 1-2 weeks (depending on skin type), you should have beautiful skin with a healthy shade that will help you not burn quickly. IT is ESSENTIAL to apply a good cream with sun protection when exposed to the sun for more than 10 minutes.
In the next article, I will share with you my secrets to help you soothe the burn and aid cell repair in the event that, unfortunately, you have been sunburned.
