Cleopatra, icon of beauty

Yes, but why donkey milk? In my last blog, I told you about Queen Nefertiti and her love for shea butter. Now it's the turn of another beauty icon that I want to tell you about " Cleopatra ".

Everyone knows Cleopatra for her great beauty, but did you know that she bathed in donkey milk every day? Yes, it is even said that 700 donkeys had to be milked to fill her bath. Nothing is too good for this beauty queen that is Cleopatra! I will show you in a few lines why this product was, and still is, so coveted!

What exactly is donkey milk?

Donkeys in white gold creation

Did you know that this milk is also called white gold? Unlike goat, sheep or cow milk, which produce up to 25 liters of milk per day. The donkey, however, produces only 2 to 4 liters per day. Hence the term, WHITE GOLD, it is rare, precious, of quality and has EXTRAORDINARY benefits. Donkey milk has retained its luxurious reputation over the millennia.

As it is rich in vitamins C, A, and B2, this milk has ultra-hydrating properties for the skin. It also contains omega 3 and 6 which makes the skin more supple. These active ingredients also explain why it is considered an outstanding healing agent. The mineral salts contained in donkey milk create a self-cleaning effect on the skin.

You have sensitive and dry skin, products based on '' white gold '' will be your best ally! Anti-wrinkle par excellence, thanks to its high collagen content, be careful, when we hear "anti-wrinkle". We tend to think that it is for more mature skin, but think again, the elasticity of the skin is maintained before even having its first wrinkle! Do you have capricious skin? Donkey milk is also essential for acne, eczema, psoriasis and since it is a very gentle product it is also recommended for skin that tends to redden easily. Finally, it would have been easier to tell you that donkey milk is just too perfect and it is suitable for all skin types!

What's in it?

What is in donkey milk, to put it simply:

  • Vitamins A, B, C & E, regenerating and antioxidant .

  • Omega 3 and 6 polyunsaturated fatty acids which protect the epidermis.

  • Trace elements (calcium, magnesium , phosphorus, iron and zinc), essential for the proper functioning of skin cells.

  • Proteins and amino acids that play an essential role in the structure of the skin and its functioning.

  • Alkyl glycerols which stimulate natural defenses

And if I told you more about this famous milk...

Donkey milk is the milk that comes closest to breast milk.

Here is an interesting fact, it is the milk that is closest to human breast milk, low in fat, but as said above very rich in vitamins. At ETC…, we use donkey milk in the form of flakes, it is dehydrated, freeze-dried to use the appropriate term.

When the donkey gives birth, her milk is 100% intended to feed her foal for 2 months. She is an excellent mother, this donkey! Then the donkey will be set aside for 3 to 4 hours a day, for about 150 days to pump her milk. As soon as the foal is weaned, about 8 months, the donkey stops lactating. Which means that her job as a cosmetician is now over, short career my dear!

1 liter of donkey milk gives about 80 grams of freeze-dried milk. Only 5% to 10% of this quantity is used in cosmetic products in general. We understand why it is so rare and sought after! Imagine, taking 1 liter of milk, taking only 8 tablespoons for a recipe and throwing away the rest! Admit that this image has just disturbed you.
